ABOUT THE ONLINE COURSE
Are you fond of weaving tapestry? Do you want to wave your very own tapestry? If so, then Wild Rice Retreat would like to invite you to become a part of its very exciting Weaving a Walk in the Woods event. As a part of this event, you will learn about the unique techniques of waving that lend themselves to describing trees and forest, sunlight on leaves, water droplets on ferns, the texture of bark.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Weaving a Walk in the Woods event is a rare chance to learn the art of tapestry weaving and refine your existing skills. This event will provide you exposure to different waving techniques and a chance to experiment with them.
This wonderful event is going to begin on September 19 and will last through September 23. It is five days learning journey that will take place in Wild Rice Retreat, Bayfield, Wisconsin. During this event, you will work on several designs based on your photos and sketches. You will go through the process of developing a design, making a cartoon, and beginning the weaving of a small tapestry or a study of a larger design.
Elizabeth Buckley has been teaching the art of tapestry weaving for fifty years. She is a second-generation tapestry artist. Her creations of tapestry hold lengthy exhibition history. Her work was featured in the Fiber Art Now article on “An Artist’s Sense of Place,” Fall 2017 issue. She has been awarded the American Tapestry Alliance Award. She has an impressive reputation for excellence in tapestry.
