ABOUT THE EVENT

Reduce your daily stress and improve attention, boost the immune system, reduce emotional reactivity, and promote a general sense of health and well-being with Hammer Museum and Diana Winston through its “Free Mindful Awareness Meditation” a free weekly session.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Hammer Museum generally organizes these sessions at Hammer’s Billy Wilder Theater but going through this pandemic they have decided not to sit back and provide their classes through an online platform called zoom. These sessions are open for people interested in learning how to live more presently.

Diana Winston is the Director of Mindfulness Education at UCLA Semel Institute’s Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) and the co-author, with Susan Smalley PhD, of Fully Present, the Science, Art and Practice of Mindfulness. She has been practising mindfulness meditation since 1989, including a year as a Buddhist nun in Burma.

The Hammer Museum was established in November 1990, by Dr Armand Hammer, former Chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corporation. Architect Edward Larrabee Barnes created the Museum. It presents rotating exhibitions of contemporary and historical work in all media of the visual arts, plus hundreds of free programs including film screenings, performances, lectures, readings, and panel discussions on current social issues. The Hammer Museum at UCLA believes in the promise of art and ideas to illuminate our lives and build a more just world.
