MARK MATOUSEK is a teacher, speaker and named as the bestselling author. He has been teaching about people’s awakening and creative excellence through transformational writing and self-inquiry. Throughout his career journey, he served multiple roles from a memoirist, editor, interviewer to survivor and activist. He has inspired and helped thousands of people connect with spirituality and achieve their spiritual goals. He leads workshops, classes and mentors people.

Mark teaches people how to awaken through self-examination, which is called writing to awake. This transformative method is all about writing a tool for insight, innovation, and clarity of purpose. Mark is an award-winning author. He has been recognized for his several writing works. His books True Story, The Boy He Left Behind, When You’re Falling, Dive, Ethical Wisdom: The Search for a Moral Life, Ethical Wisdom for Friends, Mother of the Unseen World, and Writing To Awaken: A Journey of Truth, Transformation, and Self-Discovery are very famous among the people.

His work has been featured in many anthologies and publications such as New Yorker, O: The Oprah Magazine, Details, Tricycle, Good Housekeeping, and Harper’s Bazaar. Mark writes blogs regularly for Psychology Today and offers courses in creativity and spiritual growth worldwide using the writing to awaken method. He was born and brought up in Los Angeles, United States. Mark completed his graduation from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1979. He was awarded a fellowship by Worcester College, Oxford.

After completing his education, he went to New York, where he served as a stringer for Reuters International, then in Newsweek’s letter department. Afterwards, He was selected as a proofreader at Andy Warhol’s Interview, and shortly he became the magazine’s first staff writer and senior editor the following year. Mark formed The Seekers Forum, which is a global online community for a non-sectarian spiritual dialogue. He is currently working as a faculty member at The New York Open Center, The Omega Institute, 1440, Esalen, The Rowe Center, Hollyhock, and Omega Blue Spirit, Costa Rica.
